Cangas del Narcea, Asturias

Visit and enjoy this authentic celebration. Cangas del Narcea is at the forefront of Asturias' only wine region, the Wines of the Land of Cangas, and celebrates its unique grape harvest with a festival that combines tradition and local pride. The central streets of the town fill with craft stalls and traditional products, while the transportation of grapes in maniegas (traditional baskets) is reenacted, culminating in the highlight: barefoot grape stomping, with no help other than the strength of the local youths.

Experience step by step

After the stomping, the festival moves to a tent where a monumental espicha is held — a communal meal around barrels of cider or wine, typical of Asturian culture — featuring local products from the area and, of course, plenty of Cangas wine. It’s a perfect way to discover a lesser-known side of Asturias, that of its mountain vineyards. Free access to street events.
