Anti-discrimination policy
Last updated: 16 July 2025
At autóctonus, we believe in a world where travellers and locals come together to share authentic plans based on hospitality, respect and diversity.
Our global community is made up of people with different cultures, values and customs, and it is essential that every encounter is based on mutual respect and inclusion.
Community Commitment
All autóctonus users — whether local people who offer plans or travelling people who participate in them — commit to:
- Treating each other with respect, regardless of skin colour, religion, nationality, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, family situation, civil status, disability, caste, pregnancy or any other characteristic protected by law.
- Comply with this Anti-Discrimination Policy in all their interactions within the platform and during the conduct of experiences.
Prohibition of Discrimination
It is prohibited to discriminate against other users for reasons related to protected characteristics. This implies:
- Not denying participation in an experience or cancelling bookings for discriminatory reasons.
- Not imposing different conditions, requirements or rates for discriminatory reasons.
- Not making comments or publications that promote exclusion, segregation or violence on the grounds of protected characteristics.
Examples of Prohibited Behaviours
autóctonus users cannot:
- Rejecting or cancelling a person's participation in an experience due to their protected identity.
- Publishing plans or profiles that indicate preferences or restrictions based on discriminatory characteristics.
- Charging additional fees or imposing special conditions for reasons related to a protected characteristic.
Age and Family Status
Local people can:
- Setting a minimum age to participate in plans when there are safety requirements, regulations or due to the nature of the activity (for example, high-difficulty hiking routes, activities involving alcohol, risk sports).
- Clearly state in the experience description if it is not suitable for children or babies due to its nature.
- Comply with any legal requirement that establishes age restrictions.
Local people cannot:
- Rejecting or limiting participation based on age or family situation arbitrarily if there is no objective or regulatory justification.
- Charging differentiated fees based on age, except where legal rules apply (e.g., discounts for minors or seniors).
Disability
autóctonus encourages local people to:
- Describe clearly and truthfully the accessibility conditions of each experience (terrain, means of transport, facilities).
- Providing details about necessary physical abilities or objective limitations of the activity so that travellers can decide whether they can participate.
Local people cannot:
- Rejecting a person with a disability without objective basis (for example, denying participation if the activity is viable with reasonable adjustments).
- Charging additional fees for assistance animals or mobility support devices.
- Refusing to make reasonable adjustments when possible and when it does not entail an excessive burden.
Gender Identity
autóctonus expects its entire community to respect each person's gender identity.
This includes:
- Using the correct pronouns indicated by each user.
- Not rejecting participation or treating a person unequally due to their gender identity or expression.
- Restricting participation to a single gender is permitted only in plans where it is essential for reasons of privacy, safety or regulations (for example, wellness retreats exclusively for women). This must be clearly stated and objectively justified.
Discriminatory Language
Not permitted:
- Using insults, stereotypes, threats or expressions of hatred towards any person because of a protected characteristic.
- Referring to a transgender person by their former name (deadname) or deliberately assigning an incorrect gender.
- Using microaggressions or language that belittles another user.
Discriminatory Symbols and Materials
It is prohibited to display, use or promote:
- Symbols, objects, logos or images that incite hatred, violence or discrimination.
- Materials that transmit offensive stereotypes or exalt historical injustices.
Compliance with Laws and Terms of Service
autóctonus users must:
- Comply with local laws and regulations governing the offering or participation in plans.
- Clearly state if there are legal restrictions that condition the participation of certain groups for safety, health or regulatory reasons.
How to Report an Infraction
If you believe you have been a victim of discrimination or detect discriminatory behaviour on the platform, you can:
- Report it directly from the relevant experience or profile.
- Contact autóctonus through official channels, providing details of the incident (dates, participants and a clear description). You have the option of using the red button for this type of infraction, which is considered serious and which the platform seeks to prevent.
- autóctonus will investigate all reports confidentially and will take the necessary measures, including the suspension or expulsion of users who fail to comply with this Policy.
Commitment
At autóctonus we are committed to promoting a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all people, encouraging encounters that enrich diversity and mutual understanding.
This Policy forms part of the Terms and Conditions of Use of autóctonus.
