Founded in 1964 by Pedro Arregi as a small tavern, today it is run by his son Aitor. Elkano is one of the world's great temples of grilled cuisine, with turbot as the undisputed star. Their cooking does not manipulate textures or flavors: the absolute control of the coals and the choice of fish, bought daily from the fishermen of Getaria, are the keys to a restaurant revered by its peers and ranked among the best in the world. With a Michelin star, Elkano represents the so-called 'culinary landscape' of Getaria: freshness, seasonality, and marine terroir on the glowing grill, in a family-friendly and unpretentious atmosphere, right in the heart of the fishing village on the Guipuzkoa coast.
